S&P and Nasdaq Little Changed, Dow Falls

Both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq swung around the flatline while the Dow Jones declined around 150 points on Monday, with traders awaiting further catalysts to gauge the economic and monetary policy outlook.

Several Fed officials are due to speak this week and investors hope more insights on the potential timing of the first Fed interest rate cut.

Key economic data including retail sales, industrial production and S&P Global PMIs are also due.

Meanwhile, the NY Empire State Manufacturing Index beat expectations but continued to point to a decline in business activity.

Real estate and utilities were the worst performing sectors while tech was managed to stay in the green.

Megacaps were mixed in premaket trading, with Microsoft (0.2%), Apple (0.3%) and Nvidia (0.9%) rising, while Amazon (-1%), Meta (-1.4%) and Alphabet (-1%) traded in the red.

Also, Broadcom soared almost 3%, hitting a record high of $1798.
